"Woodford has been crafted in small batches at the Woodford Distillery since 1812. This artisanal process allows them to craft using all five sources of bourbon flavor, giving it exceptional richness, depth, and character with a smooth, well-rounded finish. Located in the heart of bourbon country in Kentucky’s Bluegrass region, each bottle is numbered with a batch number and bottle number. Woodford Reserve has been declared the “official bourbon of the Kentucky Derby” by Churchill Downs. They produce three types of whiskies, Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select, Reserve Rye, and Reserve Double Oaked.
We'll be tasting Distiller's Select, Woodford Reserve Rye and Woodford Double Oaked. Distiller’s Select has elegant and creamy aromas with strong vanilla, butterscotch, cinnamon, and black pepper. The Reserve Rye is made in the traditional style of Kentucky Ryes. It delivers bold flavors of pepper and tobacco with a long fruit and sweetly spiced. Double Oaked uses a twice-barreled method, creating rich and colorful flavor. Uniquely matured in separate, charred oak barrels – the second barrel deeply toasted before a light charring – extracts additional amounts of soft, sweet oak character.”
